John P. Schaffer, 88, of Allentown, passed away April 30, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with diabetes and dialysis. He was the loving husband of 66 years to Anna (Vastyshak) Schaffer. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late John P. and Sallie Mae (Geist) Schaffer. John worked as a mechanic at various knitting mills. He was a member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

A calling time will be held on Monday 9:15-10AM with a Service at 10AM all in Kohut Funeral Home, Inc. 950 N. Front St. Allentown, PA 18102. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery.

Ronald O. Spengler
Ronald O. Spengler, 67, of Allentown, passed away March 29, 2014 in Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest. He was the long-term companion of Lynn Gilbert. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Owen and Marion (Troxell) Spengler. Ronnie worked as a draftsman for Cutler- Hammer, now Eaton Corporation and then worked part time for Toys- R- Us. He was an avid car and model car enthusiast. Ronnie was a member of the Silent Traffic Model Car Club. He liked to attend car shows and flea markets with Lynn.

Henryk A. Szatanek, 56, of Macungie, died March 12. Loving husband of Ewa Szatanek. Services: Viewing on Tuesday, 9:30-10:30 a.m. in Kohut FH, 950 N. Front St. Allentown and Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Ss. Peter and Paul Polish Catholic Church, Allentown. Private burial at a later date in Poland.
Andrew Suberroc
Andrew Suberroc, 96, of Coopersburg, passed away February 17, 2014 at the Devon House in Allentown. He was the husband of the late Olga (Hutzajluk) Suberroc. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Peter and Eva (Ruvuski) Swerbyus. Andrew served in Normandy, France, Belgium, and Germany with the U.S. Army Second Infantry Division during WWII. He retired from Air Products after many years of service to his home in Lanark where he was actively involved in maintaining the landscaping. Andrew was a member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the former UKE Club, and the Emmaus Historical Society.

Helen (Rupelli) Simonelli, 86, of Allentown, died on Jan 23. She was the wife of the late Dominick Simonelli and the daughter of the late Tullio and Carmella (Marucci) Rupelli. Albert Solga
Albert P. Solga, 84, of Bethlehem, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014. He was the loving husband of the late Ruth Marie (Goetz) Solga. Born in Catasauqua,1929, he was the son of the late Jan and Maria (Majtan) Solga, who were immigrants from Slovakia.. Albert was a 1947 graduate of Central Catholic High. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany where he met Ruth, his beloved wife of 52 years.. Albert received a Bachelors Degree from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 1959. They eventually settled in Bethesda, MD. After working in intelligence, he worked in Export Control at the Dept. of Commerce for 35 years, retiring in 1993. He and Ruth travelled extensively, visiting family and going on great adventures. They also enjoyed spending time at their condo in Ocean City, MD. He loved the beach and swimming. They moved to Bethlehem in 2004 to be closer to family. He really enjoyed music and opera, attending many concerts, and even went to the Met in New York City to see operas and went to Musikfest every day. He was a supporter of the Bach Choir of Bethlehem. Al and Ruth were both members of the Little Flower Choir in Bethesda, MD for many years. Albert was a member of St. John the Baptist Slovak Catholic Church and was in the church choir. He also sang in the Cathedral choir of Allentown. He was a member of the MORA Club, Jednota and the National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees. Al had a great life with many accomplishments. He truly enjoyed life and was loved and admired by many family and friends.

Catherine Solga
Catherine M Solga, beloved wife, mother and life time resident of the Lehigh Valley, 98, has entered her eternal happiness on January 2, 2014. She was the precious daughter of the late Martin and Mary Zajacik, and was predeceased in life by her beloved husband Francis A Solga, (war-time Marine and Traffic Manager at Mack Trucks). Catherine was a member of St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church on Front Street. She was a member of St John's Rosary group and the Slovak Men's and Ladies Jednota. Catherine was also an active member of St Thomas Moore Prime Time Club. Catherine was a lifetime member of the Allentown Art Museum Auxiliary and Women's Symphony Community. She was also a volunteer for Channel 39 and graciously participated in the outreach for the Lehigh Valley United Way. She was a long time member of Mack Truck Retirees.

Catherine leaves three children: daughter Bernice, wife of Dr. Paul Balson of Beverly Hills, CA, son Dr. Francis Solga of Orwigsburg, PA and daughter Barbara Ann, wife of James Christopher of San Diego, CA; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her youngest grandson Jeffrey Christopher, brothers Martin and Frank Zajacik and sisters Sophie Bieter, Anna Grim and Victoria Kachmar.
Services: A viewing will be held Wednesday 6-8PM with Rosary at 7PM and Thursday 9:30- 10:30AM all in Kohut Funeral Home, Inc. 950 N. Front St. Allentown 18102. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11AM Thursday in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church 924 N. Front St. Allentown 18102. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.

Zofia Sniezek
Zofia (Wach) Sniezek, 74, of Northampton, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013 in St. Lukes VNA Hospice. She was the loving wife of 53 years to Tadeusz Sniezek. Born in Poland, she was the daughter of the late John and Anastasia (Perun) Wach. She was a member of Ss Peter and Paul Polish Catholic Church, Allentown, where she would participate in making pierogies. Zofia was also a member of the Polish American Citizens Club, and previously the Polish National Alliance. She was a past member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Syracuse, NY for 38 years.
